Big Timber Early Learning Academy opened in 2018 after we saw an overwhelming need for more child care in Sweet Grass County. We have a fantastic staff that loves children, is here to help them grow and develop to the best of their abilities and loves providing a positive atmosphere for each child that comes here.
Our mission is to care for children in a positive atmosphere, giving them time to play, and develop their God given abilities .
Our vision provides a loving home like experience to every child where they can play and develop with caring experienced staff.
Our philosophy is play-based. We allow children to learn about their environment through play experiences every day all day.
Big Timber Early Learning Academy is a Montana state licensed group child care. We are licensed for age 0-12 years old. We specialize in supervised play and exploring. Preschool age children and school age children attend our sister program , Little Learners Preschool. During the school year we focus on play centered learning to get children ready for school entry. In the afternoons we help care for preschool and school age children combined.
Stacey Smith founded Big Timber Daycare in 2018, which was later renamed Big Timber Early Learning Academy in 2025. She has always loved children and has been interacting with them since she was a young child. She has a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies and before coming to Big Timber , Montana worked in Oceanside, California as a Youth Pastor. She currently resides in Big Timber, Montana with her husband , Casey Smith , and their two daughters, Sequoia and Chevelle.
Big Timber Early Learning Academy offers Full-Time High Quality Early Childhood Education & Care Monday thru Friday 07:45 am to 05:30 pm to Children 2 months old to 12 years old. The After School Program is available for school age from 3:00pm-5:30pm Monday thru Friday during the school year. During the summer we offer a full-day Summer Stem Camp for School-age children Monday thru Friday 7:45am to 5:30pm at the City of Big Timber Dugout.
